We love films, and we love making them. We do commercials, corporate films, print ads, and quality content for social media. Living in times where a large amount of noise is created in the name of art and cinema, we sail against that noise, creating beauty. DocArt had so far conceived and produced a handful of fiction and non-fiction works, including feature films, short films, short docs, commercials, and corporate videos. Some of our films have been to major international and national film festivals and also garnered awards.

Founder / Creative Producer
R Sharmila is from Kochi. A literature graduate from St.Teresa’s College in Kochi, Sharmila is a Fashion Artist & Creative Producer. She founded the production house 'DocArt' in 2018. And since then she has produced commercials, short films, documentaries, corporate films, and independent feature films. One of the commercials she produced for Karalkada won the Best Ad Film of the Year Award in 2018 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Film Festival held at the National Film Archives of India (NFAI) in Pune in December 2018. Sharmila has produced a feature film called 'Pixelia' which went to many national and international film festivals. Her other notable producing titles include the short film called 'Deenam' (The Itch) streaming on Shorts TV and a documentary film 'Sha Sa Ha' streaming on the Neestream OTT platform. 'Thaarumaar' is her second feature film.
RATHEESH RAVINDRAN
Writer / Creative Director
Ratheesh Ravindran is from Kerala. After finishing a degree in Physics, Ratheesh went on to do a Post-Graduation in Cinema from Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) Kolkata, graduating in the year 2006. He started his career as a cinematographer. Ratheesh's directorial debut feature film 'Pixelia' was premiered at the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF 2018) in the National Competition Category and has been to various film festivals across the world. He has directed two short films 'The Aquarium' and 'Deenam' (The Itch) and a documentary film 'Sha Sa Ha' which is now streaming on the Neestream OTT platform. 'Thaarumaar' is his second feature film. Ratheesh works as the writer/creative director at DocArt.

When Doc Art decided to make a film for us, Fanoos, little did we expect that it would be such an in depth, intense process. This short film, in fact, wasn't the only highlight! What stole our hearts was the journey we got on with Sharmila and Rateesh during the shoot. Docart is for those who shun the superficial, embrace the unseen and explore the hidden. It is not for those looking for mediocre films with quick fixes. These guys mean it when they claim to be different! They stop at nothing to deliver a film they have pictured in the creative nook of their minds.
One thing that we would equate a good film making approach with is the filmmaker's ability to present nuances of the subject in an open, unbiased, real and tangible manner. Their films make people think and reflect. The ideologies of this team are founded on strong principles of equity and inclusiveness. That was attractive to us. All this, of course, coupled with professionalism and transparency makes them a wonderful young filmmaker duo who are honest to themselves and to their clients.
What we found truly impressive was the faith and high level of conviction they had in the way they visualized the film. On a lighter note, fun, laughter, late night rolls and coffees marked pretty much every meeting and that's what made the association with DocArt much more than just a regular client-vendor discussion. So, the end product, for us, was not just a great film but a relationship that we will always treasure. Thank God our paths crossed! We would always vouch for DocArt.

Khadija and I met Sharmila and Ratheesh a little over 2 years ago. At our first meeting, we knew we were talking to a mischievously creative duo, who alternately balanced creativity with business. And every meeting since then has been a hoot. They’re always fun for conversation and the accompanying laughs. But when working, as we saw while they shot ads and a biofilm for us, they’re all focused.
Ratheesh is a wonderful and patient director, especially with non-actors. His attention to detail when directing is something to marvel and respect. He coaxes fabulous work from his actors and gives tremendous leeway and delegation to his crew.
Sharmila is the consummate and ever-tenacious producer who mixes good humor with a no-nonsense attitude in every aspect of production, from the script to the creative. She’s doggedly on set throughout and no detail escapes her attention. And she’s got a great sense of perspective when it comes to marketing.
It was a difficult shoot for me since my mother passed shortly before the shoot. But working with Sharmila, Ratish and the DocArt crew was a pleasant experience. They lightened the mood for all of us with an understated empathy my family appreciated.
And so, our relationship has evolved to where I feel comfortable bouncing ideas off them. Confident I’ll get pushback when needed without sugar-coating. Hopefully, I’ll get to work with them in the years to come, if available given their potential to reach great heights. Perhaps, from that perspective, it’s as well I don’t get to work with them because they should reach the heights and success their talent deserves.
